Hiking Part 1

The first day we drove to Pinkham Notch Camp and stayed there for the day and just relaxed because we had nothing else to do. We stayed at Joe Dodge Lodge and at the Visitor Center we ate dinner, which was a buffet and at 8:00 we saw the movie “Over The Hedge”.

The second day we had Breakfast at the Visitor Center and it was also a buffet. At 9 we took a short Nature Walk. We went about half a mile into the forest. At 10:30 we  took the shuttle to Highland Center and ate lunch there. We than started on Crawford Path and hiked 2.6 Miles uphill to Mizpah Spring Hut. We relaxed at the hut for about an hour. Than we decided to take a short hike in the forest to a bog which was about 1 mile from the hut. It was pretty cool. We than had dinner at 6 and it was served at the end of the table and you took what you needed and passed it down the table. At 9:30 they had Lights Out / Quit Time where you had to be quiet if you stayed up later than 9:30. Our bunk-room had 5 beds. One 2 high bunk bed and one 3 high bunk bed. I stayed on the third bunk high. It was a really nice hut. At 6:30, or when Quit Time ended, the crew/croo woke you up by playing music in front of your door. At Mizpah one person sung while one person played the keyboard, while one person played the Trombone. They did skits in the morning and evening which was cool. They were always funny.  The only part I disliked about the huts were that there was no trash. They composted all the food. So whatever you brought in had to come out. Also the toilets were not very good because all your waste went into a big tank and it smelled really bad in the bathroom.
